Kentucky Expands Medicaid Addiction Treatment Benefits
On July 1, 2019, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS), Department of Medicaid Services, launched expanded benefits for addiction treatment. The new benefits will provide coverage of methadone treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD), and coverage of residential addiction treatment for up to 30 days in a facility of any size. Previously, residential addiction treatment could only be covered if the services were provided in a facility with 16 or fewer beds.
