BCBS Of Michigan & Seven Provider Networks Announce Plan To Share Health Care Financial Risk

On December 11, 2019, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) announced a new “Blueprint for Affordability” payment model. Under the model, seven preferred provider organizations (PPOs) that provide care to BCBSM members will share financial risk for consumer care and consumer outcomes.

The risk-sharing agreements became effective January 1, 2020 and cover Blue Cross Commercial PPO and Medicare Advantage PPO plans. “Blueprint for Affordability” participating organizations represent approximately 30% of the state's total Commercial PPO and Medicare Advantage market.
