California Launches Project Roomkey Initiative To Secure Rooms For Homeless Individuals During COVID-19 Crisis
On April 3, 2020, California launched Project Roomkey, an initiative to provide hotel and motel rooms to isolate homeless individuals deemed extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 in an effort to limit the spread of the disease. Additionally, the state has also contracted with Chef José Andrés’s World Central Kitchen to provide three meals a day to select Project Roomkey hotels through a statewide contract to support local efforts as needed.
