Children With I/DD Have Double The Health Care Costs Of Children Without I/DD
Health care spending for a sample of more than 3,000 non-institutionalized children up to age 21 with an intellectual/developmental disability (I/DD) was higher than spending for children without I/DD. Mean per-person total per capita health care spending was $5,127 per year. For children with I/DD, total per capita health care spending was $8,893 per year. For children without I/DD, spending was $3,244 per year.
