Individuals With Co-Occurring Intellectual Disabilities & Autism Twice As Likely To Have Long-Term Health Conditions

A study out of Scotland found that individuals with co-occurring intellectual disabilities and autism were twice as likely to have long-term health conditions compared to people who did not have the two co-occurring developmental disorders. Individuals with co-occurring conditions were 157.5 times more likely to have a physical disability, 130.8 times more likely to have a mental health condition, 65.9 times more likely to have visual impairment, and 22.0 times more likely to have hearing impairment.
