Mental health utilization in Canada is projected to rise due to the stress and anxiety resulting from the combination of the spring lock downs and the subsequent economic downturn during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). It is estimated that, once the reactionary effects on life due to COVID-19 subside, visits to a mental health professional will increase to approximately 6.3 million to 10.7 million for the foreseeable future, up from 4.1 million pre-pandemic.
