L.A. County Moves To Create New Department For Older, Disabled Adults
On August 4, 2020, the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors voted to take the first steps toward creating a new county department dedicated to serving older adults (aged 60 and over) and adults with disabilities through the Purposeful Aging Los Angeles (PALA) Initiative. The goal is to centralize services to older adults, which are currently offered by a number of county departments. This will help with service coordination, and will allow the county to be proactive about providing services.
