People with a history of heart failure who contract coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) had a longer hospital stays, nearly three times the risk of intubation and mechanical ventilation, and double the risk of death compared to people with COVID-19 with no history of heart failure. The higher risk was evident regardless of the severity of heart failure.
