The Coming Child Mental Health Tsunami
Today was the 2021 OPEN MINDS Children’s Services Executive Summit: The Future Of School-Based Health Services. After a day with our all-star faculty, I learned that the pandemic has rewritten the present and the future for school-based health services. Obviously, the move to virtual education has changed the delivery of health care services provided in conjunction with school systems. And the future view is that we can expect a “tsunami” of children’s mental health needs in the years ahead, driven by the trauma of the pandemic.
