Nursing Home Cases Of COVID-19 Down 48% After Initial Vaccine Shots
Nursing home cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among new residents decreased by 48% at facilities where residents and staff had received their first vaccination between December 18 and 27, 2020, compared to nursing homes that had not administered the COVID-19 vaccine during that period. During that same period, at non-vaccinated homes, the incidence of COVID-19 among new residents declined by 21%. New staff cases of COVID-19 declined by 33% in vaccinated nursing homes compared to a drop of 18% in non-vaccinated facilities.
