Consulting Firm McKinsey Agreed To Pay $573 Million To Settle Investigations Into McKinsey’s Past Work For Opioid Manufacturers
On February 4, 2021, the New York State Attorney General and a coalition of nearly every attorney general announced that McKinsey & Company agreed to pay $573 million in a final consent order and judgment to settle investigations into McKinsey's past work for opioid manufacturers. The states participating in the coalition will use the funds to abate the effects of excessive opioid use. This is the first multistate opioid agreement to result in substantial payment to states to address the crisis.
