25% Of Canadian Women With ADHD Attempt Suicide
About 23.5% of Canadian women and 8.5% of men with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) reported attempting suicide in a 2012 national survey. The survey data revealed that overall, 14.0% of adults with ADHD reported a suicide attempt. The incidence of attempted suicide among those with ADHD was much higher than the 2.7% incidence among Canadian adults without ADHD. By gender, the incidence of suicide attempts among those without ADHD was 3.3% among women and 2.1% among men.
