Family members and friends of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias provided nearly $257 billion in unpaid care in the United States in 2020. There were an estimated 11.2 million informal, unpaid family caregivers in 2020, who provided an estimated 15.3 billion hours of care to an estimated 6.2 million people age 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
