Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Funds Project To Provide ‘Tiny Homes’ As Permanent Supportive Housing For People With Serious Mental Illness
On June 10, 2021, Cardinal Innovations Healthcare in North Carolina announced grant funding of $100,000 for a project to provide “tiny homes” as permanent supportive housing for people with serious mental illness (SMI). The funding was awarded to a public/private partnership between Cross Disability Services, Inc. (XDS) and The School of Social Work (SSW) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. They will use the funding to develop "Tiny Homes Village" (THV), an initiative founded to offer well-designed, affordable, permanent homes to support the health and well-being of people with SMI.
