In ADA Settlement, San Luis Obispo County Jail Agrees To Better Program Access For Inmates With Mobility Disabilities
On June 24, 2021, the federal Department of Justice entered a settlement with San Luis Obispo County, California, to ensure that inmates with mobility disabilities have an equal opportunity to participate in San Luis Obispo Jail’s (SLO Jail) programs, services, and activities. SLO Jail will make architectural changes to its facilities to ensure that they are accessible to inmates with disabilities. Additionally, SLO Jail will train staff, designate a coordinator for compliance with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), and will implement an ADA complaint procedure.
