State Medicaid Spending Projected To Increase 9.2% In Fiscal 2022
State general fund appropriations for Medicaid during fiscal year 2022 are projected to be 9.2% ($15.3 billion) higher in fiscal year 2022 compared to the $165.8 billion in general funds appropriated for Medicaid in fiscal year 2021. Across the states for fiscal year 2022, 32 states increased Medicaid state general fund appropriations, and 13 states decreased appropriations.
