The new data on health plan enrollment is interesting. Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and non-BCBS plans showed a combined membership gain of roughly 7%, or 12.3 million members, from 2020 to 2024 (see Five-Year Health Enrollment Trends Comparing Blues & Non-Blues Plans). According to the analysis, BCBS association members, parent organizations, and their subsidiaries insured about 37.5% of the total health insurance market.
