The proportion of health care organizations using artificial intelligence (AI) increased by a few points between September 2023 and May 2025—from 5.9% to 8.3%, respectively. The health care sector lagged behind all other areas of the economy in AI adoption—finance and insurance services adoption was 11.6%; education, 15.1%; professional, scientific, and technical services, 19.2%; and information services, 23.2%.

Within health care, the largest gains in AI use were in outpatient and ambulatory care, where the percentage of organizations using AI increased from 4.6% in 2023 to 8.7% in 2025. Nursing . . .
