No Agreement On Homelessness

Lack of agreement about how to address the issues of housing insecurity and homelessness continue to plague legislators, policymakers, and property owners. Two recent news stories illustrate the challenges. In Washington, D.C., President Trump ordered D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser to clear out all homeless encampments on the city streets (see Trump Orders DC Mayor To Clear Homeless Encampments). And in California, a Federal judge stopped the City of Vallejo from clearing out the shelters of homeless people on public property (see First-Of-Its Kind Court Order Halts Sweep Of California Homeless Camp).
