A new survey of physician compensation just came out and most of the findings were not surprising. There are large differences in compensation based on specialty—neurosurgeons make $788,000 a year on average. Rheumatologists make less than half that amount, $299.000.

Over the past year, the average annual compensation for physicians decreased—a slight decline of 2.4%, compared to an increase of 3.8% in 2021 (see 2023 Physician Compensation Report).
