Should Your Non-Profit Board Members Raise Funds?
I’ve been on numerous non-profit boards of directors throughout my career, and have developed a somewhat jaded view about the role of the board. I’m thinking there are only a few roles for non-profit board members—approving the strategic plan forwarded by the chief executive officer (CEO), giving or getting financial contributions, and making sure the CEO uses those resources wisely. As a bonus, board members can also provide sage advice to the CEO and be a “booster” of the organization in the community.
