Yesterday, I wrote about the lack of progress in continuity of care in the behavioral health space (see Still Missing The Basics). The new data isn't great—84% of consumers who went to the emergency room (ER) for alcohol or substance use disorder treatment did not receive follow-up care within 60 days. There just hasn't been much movement in the statistics about follow-up after hospital care for consumers with behavioral health conditions.

My thoughts are that health plans need to play a more active role in the fix. One avenue for health plans is assigning consumers . . .
