At the end of last week, CMS “disapproved” the Texas Medicaid waiver (see CMS Rescinds Approval Of Texas Medicaid Waiver Extension). Analysts speculate that the reason behind rescinding the uncompensated care pools in these waivers—also found in Florida and Tennessee—prevents expansion of Medicaid and leads to higher costs (see Uncompensated Care Pool Waivers Undermine Health Coverage For The Uninsured). Time will tell if there is more to come.
