Last week, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projected that demand for behavioral health counselors is projected to grow 19% from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations. About 48,900 openings for counselors are projected for each year over the decade—many resulting from the need to replace workers who exit the health care labor force (see;2024 Occupational Outlook Handbook).
