A recent survey found that 56% of payers have executed an outcomes-based contract of some type, agreements that tie reimbursement to specific clinical, quality, or utilization outcomes (see Avalere Survey: Over Half of Health Plans Use Outcomes-Based Contracts). While many of these agreements typically involve high-cost treatments like new digital therapeutics and pharmaceuticals, they can be applied to any high-cost course of treatment.
