A systematic review of factors related to the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease identified strong evidence for 10 factors. The 10 factors include:
Education
Cognitive activity
High body mass index in late life
Depression
Stress
Diabetes
Head trauma
Hypertension in midlife
Orthostatic hypotension (a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 20 mm Hg or a decrease in diastolic blood pressure of 10 mm Hg within three minutes of standing when compared with blood pressure from the sitting or supine position)
Hyperhomocysteinaemia (a high level of amino acid produced when proteins are broken down)
