28.9% Of Adults With COVID-19 Were Admitted To The ICU, Of Which 27.8% Died
In an analysis of data on characteristics and outcomes in adults with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), it was found that 28.9% of adults (55,593 individuals) with COVID-19 were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) during the first six months of the COVID-19 outbreak (March to August 2020) in the U.S. Of those admitted to the ICU, about 27.8% died. Another 13.6% of adults with COVID-19 died during hospitalization, and about 3.0% were transferred to hospice care during this time period.
