By 2034, absent additional policy changes, nearly 500,000 Medicaid beneficiaries with diabetes are projected to lose coverage due to provisions of H.R. 1. The projected losses are part of an estimated seven million-person reduction in Medicaid enrollment nationwide by 2034.
Most of the projected coverage losses among people with diabetes are concentrated in states that expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
