91% Of Older Adults With Dementia Are Undiagnosed
Approximately 91% of U.S. adults aged 65 or over who have a cognitive impairment consistent with dementia (CICD) are undiagnosed. Demographically speaking, about 93.3% of those people who identify as non-Hispanic Black with signs of CICD had no diagnosis. A total of 99.7% of men, and 90.2% of women with signs of CICD were undiagnosed. In terms of education among those with symptoms consistent with CICD, 93.5% of non-high school graduates, and 90.9% who had at least a high school education, were undiagnosed.
