93% Of SNFs Report No New Cases Of COVID-19 As Of Late February 2021

Ninety-three percent of skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) reported no new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) the week of February 21, 2021. The week of December 20, 2020, about 65% of SNFs reported having no new COVID-19 cases. The per-resident rate of new COVID-19 infections among SNF residents has dropped from 3.03% in December 2020 to 0.20% in February 2021. The reduction in COVID-19 cases coincided with the start of vaccine distribution and administration for SNF residents, which began December 20, 2020.
