ADHD Is A Risk Factor For Pediatric TBI
The incidence of previously diagnosed attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) among children who experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI) was higher than among the general pediatric population, at 16.0% compared to 10.8%. However, according to a meta-analysis, the odds of a pre-injury diagnosis of ADHD after one year were not significantly greater for children who experienced concussion, mild TBI, or moderate TBI compared to the odds of ADHD diagnosis among non-injured children and children who experienced some other type of injury.
