On February 8, 2021,the city of Boulder, Colorado launched a Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT), a co-responder program that pairs behavioral health clinical professionals with police officers responding to incidents where a person’s mental health and behavior are a concern. CIRT is staffed by four licensed clinical professionals employed by the city’s Housing and Human Services Department (HHS).
