The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is implementing 15 behavioral health initiatives and planning six additional initiatives. Some of the 15 initiatives started in 2019 and 2020, and some start in 2022. The initiatives are targeted at Medicaid beneficiaries, children, older adults, individuals needing addiction treatment, and people in behavioral health crisis. Some of the initiatives are focused expanding the behavioral health workforce capacity, others are focused on expanding home- and community-based service capacity, and others are focused on expanding the continuum of care. Funding is through the Medicaid program, state funds, and some federal funding streams . . .
