CMS Launches Civil Money Penalty Reinvestment Program
On November 20, 2018, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) launched the Civil Money Penalty Reinvestment Program (CMPRP); a portion of the penalty funds will be diverted to pay for general nursing home improvement initiatives. The CMPRP is a new three-year initiative, funded by penalties collected from nursing homes with safety violations putting them out of substantial compliance with one or more Medicare and Medicaid participation requirements for long-term care facilities.
