Arizona To Use American Rescue Plan Allocations For Medicaid HCBS Spending To Make Program & Technology Improvements
The Arizona Medicaid program plans to invest $1.5 billion to enhance or strengthen home- and community-based services (HCBS) using the enhanced Medicaid matching rate provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to make program and technology improvements. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) ARPA plans on January 19, 2022. The extra funding from the enhanced match rate over three years is projected to total $356 million, which AHCCCS plans to reinvest, and that $356 million in spending will draw down $1.14 billion in federal funds . . .
