CMS Renews Texas Medicaid Waiver For 10 Years, New Uncompensated Care Pool Will Focus On Public Behavioral Health System
On January 15, 2021, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) received federal approval to extend the Texas Healthcare Transformation and Quality Improvement Program (THTQIP) 1115 Demonstration Waiver for 10 more years through September 30, 2030. The waiver secures over $11 billion in supplemental or directed-payments annually for Medicaid safety-net funding. The approval preserves the state’s current Medicaid managed care system and current uncompensated care (UC) pool.
