About two-thirds of 238 Oregon residents found not guilty by reason of insanity (NGRI) who returned to the community under conditional release remained in the community without further revocation. About one-third had their release revoked. Before release, all individuals had been evaluated with the Historical, Clinical, Risk-20 (HCR-20) tool. Two items from the HCR-20 predicted revocation, including exposure to destabilizers and stress. However, the rest of the items on the HCR-20 were unrelated to later revocation, and the two predictive items could not predict imminence of revocation.
