COVID-19 May Trigger Onset Of Diabetes
Observations of outcomes of people infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) indicate that COVID-19 may trigger new onset diabetes. COVID-19 infection can also result in exacerbating pre-existing diabetes. Additionally, people with diabetes and COVID-19 are more likely than people without diabetes to have a severe case of COVID-19. About 20% to 30% of people who died with COVID-19 had diabetes.
