Depression Worsens Over Time For Older Caregivers Of People Diagnosed With Dementia
Older caregivers of people with dementia experienced a 30% increase in depression systems compared to caregivers of people without dementia. The prevalence of depression symptoms rose over time among caregivers of people with dementia, but not among caregivers of people without dementia. Compared to caregivers of people without dementia, caregivers for a partner with dementia diagnosed within the past two years had a 27% increase in depression symptoms. Caregivers for a partner diagnosed with dementia more than two years prior had a 33% increase in depressive symptoms.
