Disability Rights Organization Claims Louisiana Underreporting COVID-19 In Group Homes
On May 6, 2020, Disability Rights Louisiana (DRLA) reported that its evaluation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases among residents and staff at each intermediate care facility for people with developmental disabilities (ICF/DD) indicated 40% more cases than reported by the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH). DRLA data indicated that at least 46 of the state’s more than 500 ICF/DDs have a resident or staff member who tested positive for COVID-19. Hospitalization rates due to COVID-19 are three times higher than reported by LDH.
