Staffing Limitations Causing Majority Of I/DD Provider Organizations To Discontinue Programs & Turn Away Referrals
Due to staffing limitations exacerbated by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), approximately 77% of organizations that provide services to those with intellectual/developmental disabilities are turning away new referrals (a 16.7% increase since the start of COVID-19). Approximately 58% of these organizations are discontinuing programs and services due to COVID-19 (a 70.6% increase since the beginning of COVID-19). About 84% are delaying the launch of new programs or services, and 81% of provider organizations are finding it difficult to maintain quality standards, due to COVID-19 related staffing issues.
