Federal Court Reinstates Florida ‘Pay-To-Vote’ Rules For People With Past Felony Convictions
People in Florida with a past felony conviction and who have returned to the community must pay outstanding fines, legal fees, and restitution before they can register to vote, according to a legal ruling issued on September 11, 2020. Until 2018, the state did not allow people with a past felony to register to vote unless they successfully petitioned the governor to restore their voting rights.
