Financial Alignment Initiatives To Coordinate Dual Eligibles Care Fail To Generate Consistent Savings
After 10 years, the state-federal financial alignment initiatives (FAIs) to coordinate care for Medicare-Medicaid dual eligible beneficiaries have generally failed to demonstrate consistent savings. Through the FAI, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is working with 11 states to test two integrated care delivery models: a capitated model and a managed fee-for-service (FFS) model. The goal is to streamline Medicare and Medicaid administrative requirements to simplify care coordination for participating beneficiaries.
