Florida IG Investigating Child Welfare Lead Agency Executive Pay
The Inspector General (IG) for the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is investigating how much the contracted child welfare lead agencies pay their executives. On October 18, 2021, in a presentation to the Florida House Public Integrity and Ethics Committee (Committee) the IG said that two of the lead agencies - Eckerd Youth Alternatives (Eckerd) and by Family Support Services of North Florida (FSSNF) — appeared to have paid their former chief executives more than permitted by state law. The IG anticipates completing the investigation and presenting its final findings to the governor and legislators by June 2022.
