The Florida legislature passed a state budget for fiscal year 2021-2022 that includes an additional $95 million to fund new slots for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) on the waiting list for the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver operated by the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). Currently, more than 23,000 people are on the waiver waiting list. APD estimates that the new funding will allow 1,900 people on the waiting list to be enrolled in services throughout the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
