Individuals With Obsessive-Compulsive & Related Disorders At Increased Risk Of Suicidal Behavior
Individuals with obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (OCRDs) are at an increased risk of suicidal behavior. "Related disorders" included in the analysis were body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), hoarding disorder, and grooming disorders. The grooming disorders category included skin-picking and hair pulling (trichotillomania).
Among people with OCRDs, the percentage of those who attempted suicide or have/had suicide ideation were as follows:
Lifetime suicide attempt: 35.2% of those with BDD, 24.1% of those with hoarding disorder, and 13.3% of those with grooming disorders.
