Kansas Legislature Approves Budget For New 240-Bed Addiction Treatment Minimum Security Prison
On April 26, 2021, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed the 2022 state budget that includes a provision to create a 240-bed minimum security prison to provide inmate addiction treatment. The budget provided $6 million to convert a building at the Lansing Correctional Facility for the new addiction treatment prison. Some of the funding will also be used to renovate a building at the Winfield Correctional facility for geriatric inmates.
