Kidney Transplant Referrals 16% Less Likely At For-Profit Dialysis Centers
In the Southeastern United States, people receiving dialysis at a for-profit facility were 16% less likely to receive a referral for kidney transplant compared to people receiving dialysis at non-profit facility. Across both for-profit and non-profit dialysis facilities, about 44% of those undergoing dialysis were referred for transplant, which included 43% of those treated at a for-profit facility and 47% of those treated in in a non-profit facility.
