Medicare Beneficiaries On Long-Term Dialysis & Aligned With An ACO Increased To 23% In 2016
From 2012 to 2016, there was an increase in the percentage of Medicare beneficiaries on long-term dialysis who were aligned to an accountable care organization (ACO), with a reduction in spending seen for ACO-aligned beneficiaries. From 2012 to 2016, the percentage of beneficiaries on long-term dialysis aligned to an ACO increased from approximately 6% to 23%. Spending for these beneficiaries on long-term dialysis was reduced slightly—$143.00 less (or 0.9% of spending) per beneficiary-quarter for ACO-aligned beneficiaries, compared with nonaligned beneficiaries.
