More Than 1,700 H.I.V. Treatment Sites Closed In 2025 After U.S. Aid Funding Cuts
More than 1,700 human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) service delivery sites worldwide closed following terminated or delayed awards reporting for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in 2025. Of the 1,714 total site closures recorded, most were public health facilities (1,010 closures), followed by 325 service delivery or access points within larger clinics, 206 private HIV-specific facilities, 126 drop-in centers or one-stop shops for specific populations, and 47 mobile clinics.
